A Bath man was arrested after Penn Yan police investigated the theft of a commercial oven from a local business.
Police said the theft was reported on March 7.
During the investigation, officers identified Phillip R. Hayden, 65, of Bath, as the suspect.
Penn Yan police worked with the New York State Police to contact Hayden and negotiate the return of the stolen property.
Authorities then took Hayden into custody in the Village of Penn Yan.
He was charged with petit larceny.
Hayden was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
