Construction crews will begin installing new water services on Castle Street starting Monday, March 16, as part of the city’s Castle Street Capital Improvements Project.
The work will take place on Castle Street between Brook Street and Oak Street and will temporarily close that section of the road during construction.
Eastbound and westbound traffic on Castle Street will close between Brook Street and Oak Street during the workday.
Northbound and southbound traffic on Maxwell Avenue will also close between Lafayette Avenue and Castle Street.
Parking may be limited overnight and during construction hours.
Officials expect construction to continue for several weeks, though schedules may change because of weather or other conditions.
Work zones will allow only local traffic and emergency vehicles, and crews will post temporary detour routes.
Cyclists should use caution because of rough road conditions and follow posted detours.
Pedestrians should use crosswalks and sidewalks when available and stay clear of construction vehicles and equipment.
