Geneva rotary gala to honor Father Mull

A longtime Geneva priest will receive the community’s top Rotary honor later this month.

The Geneva Rotary Club will present the Ralph Springstead Service Above Self Award to Father Thomas Mull during its annual Service Above Self Gala on March 21 at Ventosa Vineyards.

The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional community service. Mull has served as pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Geneva since 2013.

Mull, a Waterloo native, was ordained in 1976 and has served in several roles across the Rochester Diocese, including at St. Ambrose Church in Rochester and Sacred Heart Cathedral. He later led St. Mary’s Church in Canandaigua and St. Bridget in Bloomfield before coming to Geneva.

In addition to parish leadership, Mull has served on the Aquinas Institute Board of Trustees and spent 15 years on the Thompson Health Board of Trustees, where he chaired the ethics committee. He has also served as chaplain for several law enforcement agencies, including the Geneva Police Department and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

The Geneva Public Library will receive the organization of the year award at the event.

Rotary will also present Paul Harris Awards recognizing community service. This year’s recipients include Rotarians Tamara Carter, Diana Perry and Ford Weiskittel, along with Jennifer Harris, co-founder and assistant director of Thrive to Survive.

The event begins with cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Former Rochester television news anchor Doug Emblidge will serve as emcee.
