A former New York State Fair concessions manager accepted gifts from vendors while overseeing operations, violating state ethics law, according to The Citizen.
Geneanne Keegan-Smith, who resigned in 2023 after about 30 years with the state Department of Agriculture and Markets, agreed to pay a $1,000 fine in a settlement with the state Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government.
Investigators found she accepted items such as alcohol, food, homemade wine and other gifts from vendors, and regularly used a vendor’s golf cart during the fair.
