Syracuse men’s basketball (15-15, 6-11 ACC) closes out its regular-season schedule today at 4:30 p.m. when it hosts Pittsburgh Panthers (11-18, 4-12 ACC) at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Prior to the game, Syracuse will hold its Senior Day ceremony, honoring Nate Kingz, William Kyle III, J.J. Starling, and Bryce Zephir for their contributions to the program.
The Orange enter the regular-season finale with a strong record at home, posting a 12-5 mark at the Dome while averaging more than 78 points per game. Sophomore Donnie Freeman has led the scoring effort at home, while Tyler Betsey has been the team’s most efficient 3-point shooter on its home floor. Syracuse also continues to rank among the nation’s top shot-blocking teams, averaging 6.0 blocks per game. Kyle III anchors that defense and ranks among the ACC leaders in blocks per contest.
Syracuse won the first meeting between the teams this season, defeating Pittsburgh 83-72 behind 10 made three-pointers. Freeman paced the Orange with 22 points, while Starling added 19.
Pittsburgh enters needing a win to secure a spot in the ACC Tournament after splitting its last two games, including a victory over California before a narrow loss to Florida State. Cameron Corhen leads the Panthers in scoring and rebounding, while Damarco Minor provides perimeter scoring.
This marks the 130th meeting between the longtime rivals. Syracuse leads the all-time series 77-52, with the programs having met annually since 1982.
