A Geneva school employee is stepping into the race for a sprawling Finger Lakes Assembly seat, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Phillip Fleming, a teacher’s aide at Geneva High School, announced he’s seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan in the 131st District. The district spans parts of Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Broome and Chenango counties.
Fleming says his campaign will focus on education, behavioral health, economic development and civil rights issues. He’s studying at Roberts Wesleyan University and has received endorsements from several county Democratic committees across the district.
