A federal judge has rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to shut down New York City’s congestion pricing program, according to Politico.
The ruling allows the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to keep charging vehicles entering Manhattan’s busiest areas during peak hours. The U.S. Department of Transportation had tried to revoke federal approval shortly after the toll program launched last year.
Officials say the program has raised $468 million in its first year while cutting vehicle entries by 11% and lowering emissions in the congestion zone. Gov. Kathy Hochul called the decision a major victory and said congestion pricing is “here to stay.”
