The U.S. Senate voted down a resolution aimed at limiting President Donald Trump’s ability to launch further military action against Iran, according to News10NBC.
Democratic lawmakers argued Congress must approve military action, warning the country could be pulled into another Middle East war. Senate leaders including Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand supported the measure and criticized the administration for not fully explaining the threat from Iran.
Local House members split on the issue. Rep. Joe Morelle questioned the strikes and warned about the risks of another prolonged conflict, while Rep. Claudia Tenney praised the military operation and backed the president’s decision.
The House is expected to vote on a similar resolution.
