A Schenectady County man has pleaded guilty to federal charges involving the distribution and possession of child pornography.
Gregory Magin, 45, of Glenville, entered the guilty plea March 2 in federal court in Albany.
Federal prosecutors say the case involves online activity in July 2024 using an internet-based messaging application.
According to authorities, Magin used the platform to encourage another user to produce multiple videos depicting the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old child.
Prosecutors said Magin later distributed one of those videos to another user through the same application.
Investigators also said Magin possessed and shared about 14 child pornography videos with other users, including a video depicting the sexual abuse of a prepubescent child.
Magin is scheduled to be sentenced July 2.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum penalty of 30 years, along with a possible $250,000 fine.
If released from prison, he will also be required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the Colonie Police Department and the New York State Police.
