Skyrocketing grocery prices are forcing many New Yorkers to make painful budget choices, according to a new poll reported by Spectrum News.
The survey from No Kid Hungry New York found 67% of residents have had to choose between buying nutritious food and paying for essentials like rent, utilities, or transportation. That number climbs to 74% among families with children.
The poll also found strong support for food assistance programs. About 62% of respondents oppose federal cuts to SNAP benefits, and 80% say the program helps parents afford food for their families.
Researchers surveyed more than 1,500 New Yorkers in early February.
