Swedish Hill unveils new name, renovation plans

Swedish Hill is rebranding and renovating its longtime Cayuga Lake tasting room as part of a new chapter under the Martin Family.

The Romulus winery will now operate as Swedish Hill Winery + Cider Co., reflecting expanded cider production and new ownership that began in spring 2025.

The Martin Family owns several other Finger Lakes locations, including Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery, Idol Ridge Winery & Alder Creek Distillery, and Either Oar Wine, Whiskey, & Cheese Bar.

“It is such an exciting time for the growth of our family business,” Co-Owner Bill Martin said. “Having multiple locations in the area really gives us the opportunity to have fun with different types of tasting experiences, meet new people, and create different styles of wines and spirits, and now ciders! Swedish Hill has been a staple in the Finger Lakes for so many years, we’re proud to maintain the solid lineup they have while also creating some new products for people to get excited about.”

The winery will continue producing its established wines, including the Svenska line and Doobie Blues, while adding new wines and canned hard ciders.

Renovations are underway at the tasting room. Plans call for expanding the tasting bar, adding more natural light and increasing seating.

The tasting room will remain open during construction. Staff have set up a temporary tasting space in the octagon room connected to the main tasting area, with visitors directed to use a side entrance from the deck.

The rebrand also includes updated packaging that will roll out throughout the year in the tasting room and local liquor stores.

“We’re not here to erase history, we’re here to continue the story, but in our own voice,” said Olivia Newcombe, marketing and graphic design manager. “With this new look, we want to show everyone that we are here to have fun, make great wines and ciders, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all to enjoy.”
