Residents moved after care home violations at Interlaken facility

Twenty residents at an adult care facility in Interlaken are being relocated after state officials suspended the home’s operating license, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

The New York State Department of Health cited The Bixby Home for numerous violations, including serious problems with medication management. Officials said the facility has a long history of issues, with more than 1,000 documented violations.

State officials are transferring residents to other care facilities in Penn Yan, Auburn and Fairport, with moves expected to finish by the end of the week. The suspension order gives the operators 60 days to address problems, though local officials say the home is unlikely to reopen under its current ownership.
