A new historical marker now marks the Ithaca home where Toni Morrison lived during her graduate studies at Cornell, according to Tompkins Weekly.
Community members, Cornell faculty and students unveiled the marker at 513 N. Albany St. on Feb. 18, celebrating what would have been the Nobel Prize-winning author’s 95th birthday. Morrison lived there during the first year of her master’s program at Cornell.
The project was organized by the Toni Morrison Collective at Cornell University Library. The group works to preserve Morrison’s legacy through community events, book programs and educational projects.
