Bristol firefighters respond to 20 calls in February

The Bristol Volunteer Fire Department handled 20 incidents in February, including several mutual aid responses across the region.

Firefighters assisted the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department at two house fires during the month, along with an electric vehicle fire that threatened to spread to a nearby home.

Crews also responded to an odor of gas call in Honeoye and provided standby coverage in Naples during an event in that district.

In Bristol, firefighters helped Canandaigua Emergency Squad with 10 medical calls.

The department is also planning an open house and membership drive on April 26. Mercy Flight Central will attend the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving visitors a chance to see the helicopter and the department’s new landing zone.

Officials say anyone interested in joining the department can also stop by Monday evenings when weekly training drills begin at 7 p.m.
