Teacher charged in Geneva child endangerment case

Police arrested a Geneva woman Tuesday morning after investigators said she gave a controlled substance to a person under 17.

Trista Lynn Corey, 33, a former middle school teacher in the Geneva City School District, faces one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Members of the Geneva Police Department’s Detective Bureau took Corey into custody around 10 a.m. March 3.

The charge stems from an incident in December at Corey’s home. Investigators allege she provided psilocybin mushrooms to someone under the age of 17.

Police processed Corey at the Geneva Police Department and issued her an appearance ticket to return to City Court at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police said they are working with the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office and the Geneva City School District.
