UR Medicine Thompson Health has received a second Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health, marking back-to-back recognition from Mental Health America.
The Canandaigua-based health system earned the 2026 award after first receiving the Gold Bell Seal in 2025.
Mental Health America issues the Bell Seal to employers that meet national standards for supporting workplace mental health. The organization evaluated Thompson’s policies and practices in four areas: culture, benefits, compliance, and whole-health wellness programs.
Thompson offers several initiatives for employees, including Mental Health First Aid training, Success Coaching, and support through its Spiritual Care Department. The hospital also maintains a Zen Relaxation Room that is open to associates around the clock, along with Zen kits for offsite locations.
“We are extremely proud of the hard work our Associate Wellness, Associate Services, and Spiritual Care teams put into making sure Thompson Health provides the tools and resources our associates need in order to ensure they feel supported, and they feel comfortable reaching out for help if they are struggling with their mental health,” said Jennifer DeVault, vice president of associate services and wellness at Thompson Health.
“Receiving this award a second time is additional validation of all this hard work and lets us know we are still on the right track. Also, having access to the MHA’s data helps us plan for the future as we strive to offer even more helpful programs. For that, we are grateful,” DeVault said.
