Ontario County leaders signaled support for a $300,000 match for Geneva’s Greenway trail, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The Board of Supervisors approved a resolution Feb. 19 that would commit the funds in the 2027 budget — if the city wins a state transportation grant.
The money would serve as the required local match for a New York State Department of Transportation application. The county will only release the funds if Geneva secures the grant and finalizes agreements with the town and other stakeholders.
The project would finish three miles of trail along an abandoned rail line. Plans call for pedestrian bridges, resurfaced paths, high-visibility crosswalks and new signage.
Supervisors must still approve the 2027 budget before any dollars flow.
