Police arrested a man after officers stopped a suspicious person on West Buffalo Street and connected him to a vehicle theft case.
Ithaca Police said officers conducted the stop around 11:42 p.m. Feb. 21 in the area of 800 W. Buffalo St.
Officers identified the man as James B. Wilson. Police interviewed Wilson, and he confessed to an open case involving a theft from a vehicle, according to the department.
Police also found him in possession of property that was not his.
A few hours later, at about 3:19 a.m., officers took a report of another theft from a vehicle. Police said the stolen property in that report matched the items Wilson had in his possession.
Police charged Wilson with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree and criminal possession of burglar tools. All charges are Class A misdemeanors.
