Loose cows snarl Thruway traffic near Buffalo

Drivers on the New York State Thruway got an unexpected roadblock Monday when cows wandered onto Interstate 90 near Exit 56, according to WHAM and WKBW. The animals roamed the highway just outside Blasdell in Erie County, slowing traffic during the afternoon commute.

Traffic cameras showed at least two cows running through the median as several people worked to wrangle them. Officials have not said how the animals escaped or where they came from.

Authorities eventually corralled the cows and cleared the roadway. No injuries were reported, and traffic resumed after crews secured the scene.
