Auburn firefighter hospitalized after city incident

Flames tore through a Cayuga Street home Tuesday morning, sending one firefighter to the hospital, according to The Citizen.

Fire officials said crews responded to 56 Cayuga St. around 9 a.m. and knocked down the fire within 30 minutes. Two people had to leave the home and are staying with family. A pet made it out safely.

A firefighter fell while battling the blaze and was receiving treatment at Auburn Community Hospital as of noon. The house, which also caught fire in 2023, suffered heavy second-floor damage and water damage throughout. Investigators are still working to determine the cause.
