Domestic dispute leads to criminal mischief charge in Scipio

A late-night domestic incident in Scipio ended with a criminal mischief charge.

Deputies arrested a 39-year-old Scipio man after responding to a call around 11:42 p.m. on February 14 in the Town of Scipio.

Joseph R. Thurston, 39, faces one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office said deputies spoke with the victim and Thurston at the scene. Investigators determined that Thurston damaged multiple items in the home that did not belong to him.

Deputies took Thurston into custody at 2:06 a.m. on February 15. They transported him to the Public Safety Building for processing and arraignment in CAP Court.

The court released Thurston on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Scipio Town Court on February 23 at 6 p.m.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
