Deputies arrested a man on felony charges after investigators said he contacted a protected party while in jail.
Gregory R. Delee, 39, of Syracuse, faces charges of first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, third-degree intimidating a witness, a felony, fourth-degree tampering with a witness, and sixth-degree conspiracy.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office said it opened an investigation in January after receiving allegations that Delee contacted the protected party of a full stay-away order of protection while incarcerated at the Cayuga County Jail.
Investigators gathered evidence and secured an arrest warrant on the charges.
Deputies arrested Delee on February 17 and arraigned him in CAP Court. The court remanded him to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
