Manktelow pushes veteran suicide prevention

Veteran suicide demands urgent action, and Assemblyman Brian Manktelow says New York must step up, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

The Lyons Republican joined bipartisan lawmakers and advocates in Albany to call for expanded mental-health resources for veterans, service members and first responders. He spotlighted bills that would invest $10 million in veterans’ facilities, create a statewide mental-health app and launch a peer-to-peer support program.

Manktelow also pressed state officials about tracking veteran-suicide data and funding prevention efforts during a recent budget hearing. He warned that lawmakers shouldn’t have to restore key veterans’ programs every year and said families deserve consistent support and real accountability.
