Devendorf questions Wildhack’s coaching call

A looming retirement is clouding Syracuse basketball’s next big decision, according to WSTM. Athletic Director John Wildhack says he’ll recommend whether head coach Adrian Autry stays or goes, even though he retires July 1.

Wildhack told Syracuse.com he remains in charge until his final day and will follow the usual process by advising the chancellor and Athletic Committee chair.

But former SU guard Eric Devendorf isn’t sold. He argued on The Orange Zone that a retiring AD shouldn’t lead a major coaching hire, warning it could scare off candidates who want long-term stability. Syracuse has formed a seven-person committee to find the next athletic director.
