Syracuse men’s basketball routed by Duke in worst loss of Autry era (full coverage)

Syracuse men’s basketball dropped a 101-64 decision to No. 3 Duke on Monday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium, marking the largest defeat of the Adrian Autry era. The Orange (15-12, 6-8 Atlantic Coast) were limited to 24 first-half points, tying their lowest scoring half of the season, while the Blue Devils (24-2, 13-1 Atlantic Coast) dominated the paint, 52-30.

Syracuse showed early energy, briefly taking a 9-7 lead behind interior play from William Kyle III and Nate Kingz, but Duke quickly seized control with a 14-3 run fueled by second-chance opportunities and defensive pressure. The Orange struggled from the perimeter in the opening half, shooting 4-for-16 from three-point range, while Duke closed the half on an 11-0 run to take a 40-24 advantage.

The Blue Devils extended the margin early in the second half with an 8-2 surge, building a lead that surpassed 20 points and never dipped back into reach. Duke shot efficiently throughout the contest, led by Cameron Boozer, who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Isaiah Evans added 21 points. Duke finished the game shooting 62 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range.

Kyle paced Syracuse with 12 points, while Kingz added 10 and Donnie Freeman scored nine. Kiyan Anthony contributed late three-pointers, but the outcome was long decided as Duke continued to stretch the lead in the closing minutes.

The loss snapped Syracuse’s brief two-game win streak and continued its struggles against the Blue Devils, who remained unbeaten at home this season.
