NYSEG grant boosts business park marketing

A $30,000 grant will help Schuyler County take its business park pitch nationwide.

FLX Gateway, the Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development, secured the funding from NYSEG through its Economic Development Strategic Outreach Program to market the Schuyler County Business Park.

The 51-acre park sits on State Route 414 just outside Watkins Glen. It carries a New York State REDI Site – Gold designation and offers development-ready space.

The site includes a 19,000-square-foot pre-engineered building, with 11,000 square feet currently available for lease. The park also has municipal water and sewer from the Town of Dix, three-phase electric and natural gas from NYSEG, fiber broadband, and access to regional highway and rail networks.

“We’ve invested years preparing this site, completing due diligence, and earning the REDI Gold designation,” said Jon Beckman, FLX Gateway Board Chair. “This grant allows us to market the Schuyler County Business Park—and the many benefits of living in the Finger Lakes region—directly to national decision-makers, positioning Schuyler County well for the manufacturing renaissance and turning preparation into real investment and job creation.”

FLX Gateway plans to use the grant to attend national site selection conferences and professional forums, including events hosted by the Site Selectors Guild. Leaders will connect directly with site selection consultants, manufacturers, and corporate real estate decision-makers.

The organization will also boost the park’s visibility on site-selection platforms and update marketing materials to highlight its REDI Gold status and infrastructure.

“The Schuyler County Business Park is more than shovel-ready—it’s a REDI Gold–designated site with infrastructure in place and space available now for new year-round businesses,” said FLX Gateway CEO Judy McKinney Cherry. “The NYSEG grant helps us take that message directly to decision-makers. It allows us to be more visible in the markets where real location decisions are being made.”

FLX Gateway said the effort builds on past national marketing but provides dedicated resources to promote the site more consistently in competitive markets. The project also uses local matching funds and supports NYSEG’s goal of encouraging private investment and job creation within its service territory.

FLX Gateway, also known as the Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development, serves as the county’s lead economic development organization. NYSEG provides electric and natural gas service to about 1.1 million customers across upstate New York.
