Thompson urgent care expands hours

Getting evening and weekend care in Ontario and Wayne counties is about to get easier.

All three of UR Medicine Thompson Health’s urgent care centers will expand their hours starting Sunday, Feb. 22.

Beginning that day, the Canandaigua, Farmington and Newark locations will operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Patient registration will remain open until 7:45 p.m. each evening.

The centers are located at 699 S. Main St. in Canandaigua, 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington, and 800 W. Miller St. in Newark.

Grant Alef, director of emergency medicine administration, said improving access drove the decision.

“A necessary component of serving our patients and community is being accessible, and this change provides consistent availability at all three locations,” Alef said. “It should help patients avoid delays in care and contribute to overall better outcomes and service.”

Executive Vice President and COO Kurt Koczent said the move builds on strong patient feedback. Thompson’s urgent care teams earned 97th percentile patient satisfaction scores through Press Ganey surveys, including a 99th percentile ranking for the Canandaigua location.

“These results reflect our strong culture of quality, compassionate care, and our commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience,” Koczent said.
