An inmate at the Yates County Jail now faces an additional charge after deputies say he violated an existing order of protection.
Yates County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Christopher Castle, 32, of Penn Yan, on Feb. 10 at 7:38 p.m. at the jail.
Authorities charged Castle with criminal contempt in the second degree.
According to the sheriff’s office, Yates County correctional officers intercepted multiple text messages, phone calls and video calls between Castle and a protected party. Staff members turned that information over to deputies, who conducted an investigation and filed the charge.
Deputy Green handled the case.
Castle received an appearance ticket and will appear in court at a later date.
