The Town of Geneva just snapped up 75 acres of Kashong Glen to tackle erosion and protect Seneca Lake, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Supervisor Mark Venuti said the town will focus on stabilizing creek banks and filtering stormwater to cut sediment and nutrient runoff. The Ontario County Soil & Water Conservation District plans a stabilization project this year along Route 14. Finger Lakes Trust funding helped cover the purchase, with the town contributing about $59,000 and shifting $60,000 from its fund balance.
Leaders also set a March 10 hearing on overriding the tax levy limit and backed plans for the Geneva Greenway trail, tied to a potential $2.5 million state grant.
