ALBANY — A Ballston Spa man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison after admitting to distributing cocaine and using a firearm during drug trafficking, federal prosecutors announced.
Jason Brundige, 51, was sentenced Feb. 5 to 84 months in prison after pleading guilty to distributing and possessing with intent to distribute cocaine and using a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. According to court documents, Brundige sold cocaine on multiple occasions and displayed a loaded firearm to a customer during one of the transactions.
Authorities said Brundige also possessed cocaine with intent to distribute it from a hotel in Malta.
U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino also imposed a four-year term of supervised release to begin after Brundige completes his prison sentence.
Federal prosecutors said the sentence reflects the seriousness of combining drug trafficking with firearms, noting that armed dealers increase the risk of violence in communities. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashlyn Miranda as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative.
