Head-on crash injures five in Ovid

Twisted metal and flashing lights filled County Road 131 after a head-on crash injured five people in Ovid, according to first responders. Crews rushed to the scene just before 7 a.m., south of Combs Road.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Department joined South Seneca Ambulance and fire crews from Ovid, Lodi, and Interlaken. Mutual aid ambulances from Trumansburg and Bangs also responded.

First responders evaluated five patients and transported them to Cayuga Medical Center and Geneva General Hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening. Tow companies cleared the wreckage, and highway crews treated and reopened the road.
