Canandaigua National expands into Syracuse

A Rochester-area bank just planted its flag in downtown Syracuse, according to syracuse.com. Canandaigua National Bank opened its first Central New York branch at 333 W. Washington St. and plans three more this year.

The bank will add locations in DeWitt, Cicero and Liverpool, and expects to hire 15 to 20 employees as it grows. Leaders say they chose Syracuse after studying markets across the state and seeing room to support local economic growth.

Founded in Canandaigua, the bank currently operates in Monroe and Ontario counties. Executives say local underwriters will handle lending decisions, and each branch will offer consumer and commercial services in a community-focused setting.
