Seneca Falls police are warning residents not to fall for a donation request that claims to support law enforcement.
The Seneca Falls Police Department issued a scam alert after a community member brought a suspicious mailing to their office. The letter asked for donations and appeared connected to the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association.
Police said they did not send the mailing and have no affiliation with the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Officials urged residents not to respond or send money if they receive the letter.
Officers said the alert helped prevent at least one resident from sending in a donation after she stopped by the department to ask questions.
Police encourage anyone who receives a similar donation request, or who has questions about mailings that claim to support law enforcement, to contact the department before sending money.
