Wayne County guitarist shines on national stage

A Wayne County native stole the spotlight during a nationally streamed halftime show, according to RochesterFirst.com.

Spencer Wassdorp, a Wayne Central School District graduate, delivered an electric guitar version of the National Anthem during Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show. Wassdorp now plays lead guitar for country star Brantley Gilbert and performed alongside him Sunday.

Born and raised in Ontario, Wassdorp graduated in 2009 and later earned a music technology degree from Finger Lakes Community College. He called the moment an honor, marking another milestone in his rise from local stages to national audiences.
