After months without leadership, Schuyler County filled a key veterans post Monday night, according to officials.
Lawmakers appointed Jason F. Gilliland as director of Veterans Services, starting Feb. 17 with a $70,000 salary. The position had sat vacant since August.
Gilliland brings 22 years of military service in the Army and Air Force, plus a decade in higher education. He currently lives in Montour Falls. Legislators also heard January sales tax revenue came in slightly above expectations, though county officials warned totals typically rise and fall throughout the year.
