Route 414 bridge repairs slow traffic

Rust damage under a key expansion joint has forced traffic restrictions on the Route 414 bridge in Clyde, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

State transportation crews reduced the bridge over the Erie Canal and CSX railroad tracks to one-lane, alternating traffic while they prepare repairs. The state Department of Transportation says inspections found corrosion that needs quick attention before it worsens. Work should take only a few days once access is finalized with CSX, though weather could cause delays.

The Galen Clyde Fire District warned drivers to use caution, noting the bridge serves as the only direct route between the north and south sides of its coverage area. Officials said delays could affect emergency response times and urged patience from motorists.
