Rich McCarron adds two endorsements in 48th Senate race

Rich McCarron picked up back-to-back endorsements Saturday as he campaigns for State Senate District 48, signaling growing support across Cayuga and Onondaga counties.

The Cayuga County Conservatives endorsed McCarron during a morning event in Auburn. Hours later, the Onondaga County Republicans followed with their own endorsement in Cicero.

Both committees said they were impressed by McCarron’s push for what he calls common sense governance in Albany. He pointed to the rising cost of living, large increases in the state budget, and the need for a realistic energy policy.

The endorsements build on support McCarron already secured earlier this year from the Cayuga Republicans and the Onondaga Conservatives.

McCarron works as a Realtor and small business owner. He also serves as an Onondaga County legislator representing the 11th District.

State Senate District 48 includes the city of Syracuse, several southern and western towns in Onondaga County, and all of Cayuga County, including Auburn.

McCarron, a Republican, is challenging Democratic Sen. Rachel May, who currently holds the seat.
