Flags flew at half-staff across New York on Saturday to honor an Upstate corrections officer who died after a medical emergency on the job, according to The Post Standard.
Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered the tribute for Charles Hall Jr., a 54-year-old Marine Corps veteran from Horseheads who collapsed while working at Five Points Correctional Facility on Jan. 21. Coworkers tried lifesaving measures, but Hall did not survive.
Hall spent most of his corrections career at Five Points after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife and two children. The flag order coincided with his funeral.
