Cornell men’s hockey suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to Colgate on Saturday night at Lynah Rink, as Isaiah Norlin scored the deciding goal 1:11 into the extra session.

The Big Red opened the scoring early in the first period when freshman Gio DiGiulian netted a shot from the slot at the 6:08 mark. Colgate answered in the second period with two power-play goals, including Norlin’s first tally and another from Michael Neumeier, to take a 2-1 lead.
Cornell pulled even early in the third period when freshman Caton Ryan finished a scoring chance off a pass from Charlie Major. Ryan recorded two points in the contest, assisting on the opening goal and scoring the tying tally. A potential late go-ahead goal for Cornell was waved off following a goaltender interference review, leaving the score tied at 2-2 and forcing overtime.
Colgate capitalized quickly in the extra period after generating a turnover in the neutral zone, setting up Norlin’s second goal of the night. Raiders goaltender Reid Dyck made 31 saves, while Cornell netminder Alexis Cournoyer stopped 19 shots.
The loss snapped Cornell’s three-game winning streak against Colgate and marked the Big Red’s first overtime defeat at Lynah Rink in more than two seasons. Cornell moved to 17-6-0 overall and 12-4-0 in ECAC Hockey play.
Cornell begins a four-game road trip next weekend with games at RPI and Union, both scheduled for 7 p.m. starts.
