Man arrested in Auburn bad check case

Police arrested a man following an investigation into a bad check that led to thousands of dollars being withdrawn from a local bank in Auburn.

According to the Auburn Police Department, the incident dates back to July 24, 2025, at Generations Bank on North Seward Avenue. Investigators said the defendant wrote a check to himself and withdrew more than $3,000 despite knowing he did not have sufficient funds in the account.

Police identified the suspect as Charles P. Tuttle, also known as Argus F. Mela’Occio. Investigators said Tuttle was given ample time to repay the money but willfully failed to do so. An arrest warrant was later obtained, and he was taken into custody.

Tuttle was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony, and issuing a bad check, a misdemeanor.
