I walked away from the last town board meeting feeling blind and blindsided.
Surprisingly the landfill showed up with a million dollar check, that the town supervisor said we weren’t going to receive and raised our taxes 18%. Why is that?
I find out that the town knew very well that those monies would be received, yet the supervisor told us quite the contrary.
Here’s another example of the lack of transparency. The town bought a truck with a plow, pumps, etc without knowledge of who the bids were from and how much was spent. We also hired a new employee, but no idea full time, part time or how much they will be paid.
I am grateful though that we will be finally getting an audit, because it will take a forensic analysis in order to dissect how much is spent and how much is in reserves. I mean really why is an employees wages scattered across five different pages on the budget?
