Seized animals ready for adoption

Dozens of neglected animals are finally getting a second chance after months of care, according to Finger Lakes Daily News. The Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY says it has officially gained custody of animals seized during a December cruelty investigation in Summerhill.

The seizure followed a search warrant executed with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at a Lake Como Road home. Authorities removed 35 animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, birds, and reptiles, and arrested five people on animal cruelty charges.

After weeks of medical treatment and evaluations, the SPCA says the animals can now begin the adoption process. The group credited volunteers and donors for making the recovery effort possible.
