Lawmakers slam Thruway toll errors

Cashless tolling on the New York State Thruway keeps drawing complaints as billing mistakes pile up, according to CNY Central. State Sen. Joseph Griffo says drivers across his district report getting charged for trips they never took.

Griffo raised the issue after a recent transportation budget hearing, arguing the system needs stronger fixes. An audit from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli found most toll bills were accurate but flagged serious problems near Schenectady, where tens of thousands of tolls were wrong.

The findings add pressure on the New York State Thruway Authority to tighten oversight as drivers continue to question charges.
