Ithaca planning board weighs major housing project, redevelopment plan

City planners got an early look at major housing and redevelopment proposals across Ithaca, according to The Ithaca Voice. The City of Ithaca Planning & Development Board reviewed revised West End housing plans, a new Collegetown apartment proposal, and upgrades at Finger Lakes ReUse.

Board members debated redesigned affordable housing at 602 West Buffalo Street, updates to “The Hive” workforce housing on Cherry Street, and an eight-story mixed-use project planned for 309 College Avenue. Most feedback on the Collegetown proposal was positive.

Traffic and circulation concerns dominated discussion of the Finger Lakes ReUse site on Elmira Road, sending that plan back for revisions. All four projects will return for further review in coming months.
