Deputies responded to a Finger Lakes motel after a verbal dispute allegedly escalated into threatening behavior that left a woman fearing for her safety.
Investigators later identified Rafael Nieves-Cruz, 34, as the suspect after responding to the Woodridge Motel on County Road 50 in the Town of Canandaigua on Aug. 13.
Deputies said the incident began as a verbal dispute between two parties. During the encounter, Nieves-Cruz allegedly made threatening statements and engaged in behavior that caused a female to fear for her safety.
Deputies later made contact with Nieves-Cruz without incident.
Following the investigation, deputies took Nieves-Cruz into custody and charged him with menacing in the second degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree.
