Farmington man held on $15K bail after stay away court order

Deputies arrested a Farmington man after they say he violated a full stay-away order of protection, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan Merced-Gomez, 23, turned himself in around 3:12 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Ontario County Jail. Deputies charged him with second-degree criminal contempt after an investigation determined he contacted the protected party through a third-party messaging app.

Deputies say the violation stemmed from a full stay-away order of protection that barred any contact. After turning himself in, Merced-Gomez was held at the Ontario County Jail on $15,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The incident was investigated by A. Polisseni.
