New York’s ICE debate just turned sharper, according to Spectrum News 1.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman says he wouldn’t rule out suing the state if Gov. Kathy Hochul succeeds in banning local law enforcement agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Blakeman argues Nassau County’s cooperation with ICE boosts public safety and has strong community support.
Hochul counters that the agreements distract police and undermine trust, warning municipalities must follow state law or face legal action. Blakeman says he’s ready to fight in court, calling the proposal dangerous and politically motivated.
