A massive new Bass Pro Shops is officially taking shape at Eastview Mall, marking one of the biggest retail additions the Finger Lakes region has seen in years.
Crews are now on site in Victor, and temporary signage is up as work begins on the 90,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outpost. The store will anchor a major redevelopment at the mall and is expected to open in late 2026.
The project brings Bass Pro Shops’ fifth New York location to Eastview Mall, serving the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region. The store will sit at 7979 Pittsford Victor Road, with easy access from Interstates 90 and 490.
More than a sporting goods store

Bass Pro Shops describes the Victor location as a destination, not just a place to shop. Like other Bass Pro stores, it will feature a custom design that highlights the region’s outdoor heritage while blending retail, entertainment, education, and conservation.
Company founder Johnny Morris said the Finger Lakes’ range of outdoor recreation helped drive the decision.
“We have a great deal of passion for this entire region and the amazing range of outdoor recreation options it offers,” Morris said. “We can’t wait to help outfit the great outdoorsmen and women throughout the area for all their outdoor adventures.”
The store is expected to highlight nearby hiking trails, parks, fishing spots, and wildlife areas, with a team of expert “Outfitters” helping customers plan everything from camping trips to fishing excursions.
Economic boost for Victor and Eastview
Local leaders say the project will bring new energy to Eastview Mall and the surrounding area.
Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren called Bass Pro Shops a major win for the community, saying the store will help revitalize retail space while increasing foot traffic and tourism.
The store is expected to employ more than 120 workers once it opens, with job postings to be listed on Bass Pro’s careers website closer to launch.
Conservation at the core
Bass Pro Shops says conservation remains central to its mission. Over the past decade, the company has donated more than 10 percent of its earnings to conservation efforts across North America.
Customers will be able to support those efforts through the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, which supports habitat protection, wildlife conservation, and outdoor education.
The company also offers a year-round Legendary Salute program, providing a 10 percent discount to veterans, active military members, first responders, and state fish and wildlife employees.
A destination years in the making
Founded in 1972 in an 8-square-foot space inside a liquor store, Bass Pro Shops has grown into a national brand with nearly 200 locations across North America. The Victor store continues that expansion while aiming to deliver what the company calls an “adventure” for families, not just a shopping trip.
With construction now underway, Eastview Mall shoppers can expect steady progress as one of the region’s most anticipated retail projects moves from announcement to reality.
