Williamson Democrat jumps into race for Assembly District 130

A former auto industry executive is jumping into the race for a wide-open Assembly seat, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Joe Lamanna of Williamson announced his bid for the 130th District, becoming the second Democrat to seek the nomination.

Lamanna narrowly lost a November race for Williamson town supervisor, but he says the close result showed crossover appeal in a Republican-leaning town. He’s pitching a platform focused on small businesses, local agriculture, infrastructure, and stronger partnerships between towns and state government.

Lamanna spent 34 years at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles before retiring in 2018 and now serves on multiple Williamson boards. He’ll face James Schuler in a June Democratic primary for the 130th Assembly District seat.
