SUNY Schenectady students could soon have a guaranteed path to a four-year degree — with significant scholarship support — through a new agreement with Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
College leaders from both schools will sign a new transfer partnership Wednesday that guarantees SUNY Schenectady graduates admission to bachelor’s degree programs at Hobart and William Smith Colleges if they earn a 3.0 GPA or higher. Students accepted with a GPA above 2.7 will receive a guaranteed scholarship of at least $30,500.
The agreement applies to all SUNY Schenectady students, regardless of major, and is designed to make transferring to a four-year institution more affordable and predictable.
Administrators from both colleges are expected to outline details of the partnership and the scholarships during the signing event. Remarks will be made by Dr. Mark Meachem, vice president for academic affairs at SUNY Schenectady, and Dr. Sarah Kirk, provost and dean of faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
The signing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Lally Mohawk Room at Elston Hall on SUNY Schenectady’s campus.
SUNY Schenectady, founded in 1969, is part of the State University of New York system and offers degree and certificate programs across multiple academic divisions, along with workforce development and community education programs.
